Challenge #101-107

Challenge #101-107, March 12-March 18, 2011: I wanted this challenge to start on a Monday, as it is a one week long challenge. But Monday was 100 day, and I just couldn’t pass that up.

My mom has taught me so many things in my life, but one of the most important is to always be thankful. Once, in order to have a cell phone that I wanted, my mom told me that I had to write down five things I was thankful for each night for a month. Even as a young, teenaged girl, I understood the importance of this. I think that so often, we forget about things that are important, things that impact us, that make us happy, that improve our lives. We put so much attention on the things that impact us negatively, that we forget just how many good things there are out there. This week, list 5 things you are thankful for every night. Think back on your day, and try to remember the small (or big) things that made a positive impact on your day. I know that this challenge is similar to the ‘list 100 things that make you happy,’ but I think it takes it a step further. It makes us reflect on the positive things that happen every single day. I will keep track of my five things on here (starting Wednesday, when I get home). Feel free to do the same.

    Thanks for the nice memory…I remember asking you to write down things you are thankful for, but didn’t remember that it was a prelude to your cell phone. Which reminds me…they are still charging me for your phone. I need to go in there. Anyway…today I pick these things to be thankful for:

    2 healthy hands to work with
    2 pain free feet to walk about on
    nice customers 90% of the time
    that i am going to see Lynn tonight
    that I sleep well at night

    This is totally what my blog is about – finding things every day to be grateful for. So I really like this challenge! 🙂 In addition to the longer gratitude I included in my blog post today, here are four more things I’m grateful for right now:

    * a dishwasher that is quiet and that works
    * a relatively meeting-free day at work
    * my headache going away
    * the wonderful fresh spring air I got to enjoy this afternoon

    * Being able to share good news
    * Supportive colleagues at work
    * Supportive family at home
    * Sunshine & wonderful weather!

    * my new ipad keyboard – makes blogging (& leaving comments) MUCH more enjoyable!
    * time in my office at work so that I can make progress on a big project
    * training/preparation my employer offers me – and the knowledge that they really do want me to succeed (for their benefit, certainly; but also for my own)
    * the gift of time
    * my treadmill in the basement (so that I can still walk on days when the weather is not-so-nice, like it is today)

    For Fri 4/15:
    * finding professional clothes that fit well with zero tailoring!
    * the fact that I can afford to purchase said clothes
    * that the rattle in my car was not something serious
    * my terrific yoga instructor
    * that my body continues to be there for me and do all it can for me, even when I don’t do all I can for it

    For Saturday 4/16:
    * Grocery shopping was fast and painless this morning.
    * I had time to cook today. (See the recipes at – posted every Sunday, as the name implies.) 🙂
    * My crock pot recipe turned out just like my mom’s did during my childhood; it brought back soothing memories.
    * I have a husband who loves me and is very good to me. (And patient with me.)
    * TiVo (and on it: House & Modern Family).
