Challenge #121

I lived in the midst of the wondrous Rocky Mountains my whole life, yet it was not until my home became flat, flat Poland that I truly understood the beauty of the mountains. The mountains were normal, always there. I didn’t realize that they were special, spectacular, amazing. I think that it is sometimes hard to appreciate that that is our norm.

Challenge #121, May 1, 2011: Beauty can be found in strange places and in the form of strange things. It is easy, it seems, to find beauty in things that are new, in places we’ve never been, in things we’ve never seen. Not as easy is recognizing the beauty in things we see every day, in old scenes or common surroundings. Today, look for beauty in the things that frequent the routines of your life. Notice the landscapes you live in, or the old abandoned building that you pass every day. Beauty is all around us, we just need to recognize it.

About onechallengeaday

I am searching for nothing and absorbing everything. My eyes are open--I am wondering, I am wandering. I was made to run, to think, and to write. And that is what I plan to do.
